$40 - $55 per hour. Offers will be commensurate with level of experience.

Overview

The Project Engineering team is responsible for the verification and validation of hardware and software systems that emanate from early-stage companies and start-ups that In-Q-Tel has identified, evaluated, and invested in on behalf of our government customers.

 

On a daily basis, our engineers directly deal with both hardware and software such as cloud computing, data science, machine learning, geospatial analytic tools, video analytic products, large-scale data systems, multilingual translation tools, infrastructure, additive manufacturing, AR/VR systems, autonomous systems, supply chain solutions, cybersecurity, wireless communications, semiconductors, materials science, power and energy, space systems, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).

 

Ideal candidates want a broader view of technology across today’s software and hardware stack.

Responsibilities

  • Applying systems thinking to effectively move technology from the commercial space to our government customers
  • Review and evaluate portfolio companies’ products and/or services to determine whether it is functional and usable using
    systems engineering principles.
  • Design, build, and implement tools to faciliate the verification and validation of software and hardware systems.
  • Dig in, learn about, and develop prototypes and then show them off to both colleagues and government customers.

Anticipated Projects:

  • Assist in developing a value stream map of IQT’s deal process to recommend improvements that facilitate the quick adoption
    of technology into the government space.
  • Design and implement tools and processes to streamline the verification and validation of software and hardware systems.
  • Participate in the development of prototypes and integration initiatives, ranging from developing software solutions to building
    out a hardware system.

Qualifications

  • Due to contractual reasons, U.S. Citizenship is required 
  • Interest in national security and general awareness of government technology procurement trends
  • Interest in entrepreneurship and general awareness of technology trends in venture-backed startup companies.
  • Candidate for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an engineering or science discipline
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with employees at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers and management.
