Overview

This is an exempt position reporting to the Senior Vice President of the Intelligent Connectivity and Compute Practice. The Technology Architect Hardware Systems position at In-Q-Tel is a strategic role focused on collaborating with government partners to address their technology challenges. The architect will leverage their expertise to identify and recommend innovative solutions from the startup landscape, particularly in advanced technology areas and system design such as communication networks, antenna design, sensors, compute platforms, and microelectronics. This role involves guiding technical aspects of investments to ensure effective solutions for the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies new technology areas for investment and provides technical diligence on multiple complimentary investments in that technology area.
  • Develop and negotiate Statements of Work contracts between IQT and start-up companies.
  • Provide technical oversight on work programs; perform assessments of work program deliverables and communicate paths for resolution of issues to stakeholders and IQT Leadership.
  • Leverage technical/market experience to identify new topics for Market Surveys and Global Competitive Analysis products.
  • Oversee development of technology architectures and solutions to address problems faced by IQT's government partners.
  • Provide thought leadership in one or more areas of subject matter expertise.
  • Coordinate with customers on technology adoption strategy in development of multiple work programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to contractual reasons.
  • Active top-secret clearance preferred; must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Advanced Degree in a science or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 to 20+ years professional experience with some portion of that time overseeing a technology development effort in a business and/or intelligence environment.
  • Demonstrated thought authority and subject matter expertise in one or more of the following fields:
    • Sensor Technologies, including PNT and AltPNT
    • RF Engineering and Communication Technologies
    • Advanced Compute and Network Technologies
    • Microelectronics and Semiconductors Technologies
  • Previous experience negotiating milestone-based Statements of Work contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in satellite communications, quantum technologies, and material science.
  • Commitment to continued understanding of new technologies and their strategic advantages.
  • Capable of evaluating complex problems including identifying root cause issues, generating a concise summary of analysis; and presenting recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Startup or entrepreneurial experience and proven ability to thrive in a non-traditional, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Comfortable presenting complex technology subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong writer: experience in both technical writing and proposal/contract writing is preferred.
